Rhythm of Recovery not only has to do with rhythm and drumming, but creating a rhythm and habit of lifestyle too. Branches Rhythm of Recovery Program is committed to the “Recovery Movement”, which is about taking the stigma out of recovery.
With managed care systems changing and benefits getting cut off prematurely, clients are left with little support to hack it out on their own and the recovery movement reframes “treatment from the disorder model” (shame-based) to “living a healthy and nurturing lifestyle model” (resiliency-based) and reducing stigma. This not only covers addiction, but depression, chronic disease, trauma, divorce, etc.
People have been banging on drums and creating rhythms since the beginning of time. Drums and other percussion instruments have been used for ritual, ceremony, celebration, & healing all over the world. Using evidence based music/rhythm techniques, we work to empower individuals.
Neuroscience based brain games, craving meditations and attention/concentration techniques are woven into the process. Research into the benefits of drumming have proven it to effectively reduce stress, foster positive team work, encourage listening skills and to encourage relaxation and play. Drumming is an “in the moment” experience.
Rhythm is the soul of life, because the whole universe revolves around rhythm, and when we get out of rhythm, that’s when we get into trouble. — Babatunde Olatunji
